My name is Ellie Afshar and I have been interested in the healing arts since I can remember. I am drawn to spirituality and all things natural; often leaning towards alternative remedies and solutions. This said I took a safe, typical educational path, which I would not change for the world. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in the field of Sociology. I then went on to receive my Master’s degree in Public Health with a specialty in Epidemiology/Biostatistics from the University of Southern California.
I specialized in areas involving children’s health, women’s health, environmental health, health policy research, health promotion and education. Finding a balance between allopathic and traditional medicine has intrigues me. Furthermore, being an eastern girl at heart while living in the western world has been quite the balancing act!
While volunteering at an orphanage and working at a public health institute in India, I discovered the beauty of Ayurveda and Yoga. I have seen first hand how Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation in unison can truly be life changing. I hope to be a catalyst for bringing more light and awareness to the ancient medical system of Ayurveda and for inspiring people across the world to turn inwards in healing any aspect of their life.
